Ex-IAS, scribe among three BSP candidates

JALANDHAR: Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati today finalised the names of its three party candidates.

Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati today finalised the names of its three party candidates. Though an official announcement is awaited, the party has finalised the names of former journalist Balwinder Kumar (40) from Jalandhar, retired IAS officer Khushi Ram (68) from Hoshiarpur and international polo player Vikram Singh Sodhi (64) from Anandpur Sahib.

Sodhi was one among the four candidates announced by Bargari Morcha last month. The candidates had been called by Mayawati for a meeting at Lucknow today where they were given green signal.

The BSP is part of the Punjab Democratic Alliance. Balwinder Kumar had unsuccessfully contested the Assembly polls from Kartarpur in 2017. Kotli had contested on the BSP ticket from Jalandhar LSseat last time.

Khushi Ram worked as executive director of NRI Sabha in Jalandhar.
