Faridkot CJM takes serious view of police inaction in illegal parking case
It is alleged that a car parked directly in front of the complainant’s gate completely blocked entry and exit
Taking a stern view of the alleged negligence by police officials regarding illegal parking complaints, the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court of Faridkot officially intervened today.
In an order, the court has registered an application filed by Mangat Arora under Section 175(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) today. The court has deemed it necessary to demand a formal status report from the concerned police station, with the next hearing scheduled for April 30, 2026.
The case stems from an incident in the Baba Farid area. It is alleged that a car parked directly in front of the complainant’s gate completely blocked entry and exit.
The petitioner alleged that despite immediate calls and photo evidence sent to the SSP, the City Traffic Incharge, and the District Traffic Incharge, no action was taken on the spot.
As a follow-up, many complaints were sent to senior authorities which went unanswered, prompting the resident to seek judicial intervention.
The petitioner argued that the police’s failure to act not only inconvenienced a citizen but also pointed to a larger breakdown in traffic management. By invoking Section 175(3) of the BNSS, the petitioner has successfully moved the court to hold the authorities accountable.
The court's decision to call for a status report follows the petitioner's claim that the entire duration of the obstruction is recorded and ready for submission. He demanded that legal action should be taken against the officers who showed "negligence of duty" and penalties should be imposed on the vehicle owner/driver for the illegal obstruction.
The upcoming hearing on April 30 will determine whether the police department can justify their lack of response to the initial complaint.
