Muktsar, July 21

An 18-year-old farm labourer from Panniwala Fatta village here allegedly died after consuming some poisonous substance on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Lovepreet. His father Khushwinder informed the police that his son was depressed due to debt. The Kabarwala police have started inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC. A 36-year-old farmer had allegedly died by hanging himself in fields at Mahuana village of the district on July 8.

The deceased, Baljit Singh, was reportedly under a huge debt. Sources said he was depressed due to his poor financial condition. The deceased reportedly owned about two-acre land. — TNS
