Farmer unions protest agri ordinance in Mohali

Mohali, September 16

Various farmers’ organisations held a protest march against the agriculture amendment ordinance and the Power Amendment Bill promulgated by the Centre.

The protesters, which started from Amb Sahib Gurdwara in Phase VIII, were heading to the Governor’s house in Chandigarh when they were stopped at Chandigarh-Mohali border near YPS Chowk. Bhartiya Kisan Union (Rajewal), Bharti Kisan Union (BKU- Lakhowal) and Bhartiya Kisan Union (Rajewal) were among other unions that took part in the procession.

They alleged that the Central Government wanted to sell the commodities to the corporate houses and demanded that the right price should have been given to the farmers instead. — TNS
