Ropar, February 15
The district police have booked two dozen suspects who were allegedly involved in a clash between Congress and SAD supporters in ward No. 1 yesterday. Besides, a few others have been put under preventive detention.
Yesterday, during the polling in Sadabrat area, Congress and SAD supporters attacked each other with sharp edged-weapons, accusing each other of distributing money to influence voters. Nine persons were injured in the clash.
Ropar SSP Akhil Chaudhary said a total of 24 persons had been booked under Sections 341, 323, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC following complaints lodged by both parties. Besides, six persons in the Sadabrat area had been put under preventive detention, he added. — TNS
