A 10-year-old daughter of a peasant family in Jitwal has donated her piggy bank savings to the Muslim community of the village as a contribution for the construction of a mosque on a 15 marla plot donated recently by her parents.

Rasleen, a class V student, was tempted to part with her savings following recognition the Jitwal family received from the Muslim community after they donated their ancestral property.

“I don’t know how much money is there in my piggy bank, but I wish the work on mosque begins with my share. I will persuade my cousins to chip in for the noble cause,” said Rasleen to leaders of the committee constituted to undertake the construction of the mosque. Jagmel Singh’s family from Jitwal Kalan village had donated their 12 marla plot for the construction of a mosque for a dozen Muslim families living in the village. In the absence of a mosque, the Muslim families had to visit other localities for Friday prayers and other occasions.
