In a daring robbery, four unidentified men looted a petrol pump in Khui Khera village on the Fazilka-Abohar National Highway in the early hours of Monday.
The incident occurred around 3 am, just a day after a protest by members of the Petroleum Dealers Association in Jalalabad.
Anurag, the pump operator and a resident of Rampal Nagar, Fazilka, reported that the robbers smashed the window glass of the pump’s office and forcibly snatched Rs 26,000 from the salesman.
They also made off with an additional Rs 1,20,000 from a cash bag kept in the room.
Following the incident, the police registered a case under Section 309(4) of the BNS Act and have launched an investigation into the matter.
This robbery comes just days after a protest by petrol pump owners in Jalalabad, Fazilka, who expressed their concerns over the increasing number of petrol pump thefts.
The protest followed a spate of robberies on December 23, when three petrol pumps were looted within one hour in the Jalalabad area. Despite booking the unidentified culprits, no arrests have been made so far.
