Chandigarh: Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, legal adviser to the Sikhs for Justice, has issued fresh threats to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.



Chandigarh: Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, legal adviser to the Sikhs for Justice, has issued fresh threats to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Home Minister Rajnath Singh. In posts on a social media platform, Pannun has given a phone number and asked people to let them (SFJ) know of any foreign travel plans of the two politicians. “Please let us know if any of these two is visiting any Western country. Legal action will be waiting for them,” say the posts uploaded on Friday. TNS

Chandigarh: The state government on Friday posted 1984-batch Special Chief Secretary Karanbir Singh Sidhu as the Director General of the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA). The post had fallen vacant after the retirement of previous incumbent Sarvesh Kaushal. TNS

‘Middleman’ seeks bail in IG graft case

Chandigarh: Ashok Goyal, who was arrested by the CBI recently for accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh — allegedly on behalf of then Ferozepur Range IG Gurinder Dhillon — applied for bail on Friday. His plea will be taken up by a court on September 12. Goyal claimed that he had been falsely implicated. On Wednesday, the court had rejected his plea for B-class jail facility. TNS

Two nabbed with stolen Innova

Muktsar: Three days after an Innova was taken away at gunpoint near Ranjitgarh village here, the police on Friday arrested two persons and recovered the vehicle. A cab driver from Ludhiana, Gurmel Singh, had alleged that two youths had on September 3 hired his vehicle from Ludhiana to go to Guruharsahai, but later sped away after the carjacking. Gurbhej Singh and Deepak of Ferozepur have been arrested.  Besides the vehicle, an unlicensed pistol and four cartridges have been recovered from their possession. TNS

Three arrested with 600-gm opium

Sangrur: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), Sangrur, arrested three persons and confiscated 600 gm of opium from their possession on Thursday night. CIA incharge Daljit Singh Virk said a CIA team led by ASI Kewal Krishan during checking at Balad Kanchiya arrested three persons and confiscated opium from their possession. “The arrested include Amrik Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Bhajan Singh. All three were on a motorcycle and were coming from Samana side. We have registered a case and started further investigations,” said Virk. TNS

Cong’s Nurpur Bedi block chief resigns

Ropar: Congress’ Nurpur Bedi block president Des Raj Saini here on Friday resigned from the party post after the high command “ignored” his supporters while allocating tickets for the panchayat samiti and zila parishad elections. Saini said he had recommended 12 names, including two for zila parishad tickets, and none of them was considered by the high command. Nupur Bedi block has 18 block samitis and two zila parishads. The differences in the local Congress unit came to fore on September 2 when Saini and many local party leaders raised an objection over Youth Congress leader Brinder Singh Dhillon’s visits to Nurpur Bedi villages for poll preparations. Saini had alleged that Dhillon was an outsider and he was announcing tickets for elections on his own, while ignoring party loyalists. TNS
