ABOHAR: The owner of a fuel station was robbed of Rs 3.32 lakh by three car-borne miscreants at gunpoint in the subdivision on Tuesday.

Abohar, November 20

The owner of a fuel station was robbed of Rs 3.32 lakh by three car-borne miscreants at gunpoint in the subdivision on Tuesday.

Sukhdev Singh of Phulewala village in the Lambi segment, who owns an Indian Oil Corporation fuel station on the Kuttianwali-Khubban link road, said a Figo car overtook the motorcycle he was riding and forced him to halt when he was going to deposit the sale proceeds at the State Bank of India branch office in Khubban village. He fell on the road. Three persons alighted from the car, pointed pistol at him, snatched the cash bag and fled away.

He immediately informed the police. Teams from the Seetogunno and Wahabwala police stations reached the site of the crime and flashed message to the control room. Later SSP Dr Ketan Baliram Patil along with SP Vinod Chaudhary and DSP Rahul Bhardwaj also inspected the site.

Gang busted, 4 held

Ropar: The district police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a gang of thieves with the arrest of four persons — Pintu Kumar, Nasib Khan, Chandan Kumar and Shahrukh, all from the district.

The police have recovered eight mobile phones, one LCD and 214 gm of intoxicant powder from them. One of their accomplices is at large.

A case under Sections 379, 411, 399, 402 IPC, NDPS Act and Arms Act has been registered. Deputy Superintendent of Police Varinderjit Singh said the gang kingpin, Pintu, was earlier arrested in a bike theft case. — TNS

Thieves strike at school, college 

Muktsar: Thieves struck at DAV School and Bhai Maha Singh College of Engineering on the Kotkapura road here on Monday night, held the watchmen hostage and decamped with nearly Rs 13,000. The thieves had covered their faces with a cloth and carried a sharp-edged weapon, claimed the watchmen of both institutes. The police have started investigation and got the CCTV footage as well.
