Fulfil farmers’ just demands: Warring
Congress MP from Ludhiana, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, on Monday urged the Centre to approach the proposed February 14 talks with agitating farmers in Chandigarh with honesty and a genuine commitment to addressing their demands.
Speaking during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, Warring highlighted the plight of farmers protesting at the Punjab-Haryana border, demanding a legal guarantee for MSP on crops.
“For years, they have endured harsh conditions in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, fighting for what is rightfully theirs — a fair price for their crops and dignity in their work,” he said.
Expressing solidarity with farmer leaders, Warring lamented the state of agriculture. “Once a proud sector, it has now become a loss-making endeavour. Rising input costs, falling market prices and lack of government support have left farmers struggling for survival,” he said.
He urged the Centre to act swiftly and approach the February 14 meeting with “the desire and honesty to fulfil farmers’ just demands and provide them relief”.
