Gidderbaha bypoll: Namesakes of Manpreet Badal, Dimpy Dhillon fail to make a mark

Independent candidate Manprit Singh bags 141 votes, while another Independent Hardeep Singh secures 209 votes

The namesakes of AAP candidate Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon and BJP candidate Manpreet Singh Badal failed to make a mark in Gidderbaha bypoll as not a single candidate managed to win on Saturday. While Independent candidate Manprit Singh got 141 votes, another Independent Hardeep Singh bagged 209 votes.

Namesakes failed to make a mark in the past, too. In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate from Bathinda Gurmeet Singh, who was the namesake of AAP candidate Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, had got just 3,082 votes. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Congress’ Bathinda candidate Manpreet Singh Badal’s namesake had secured just 4,618 votes.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
