Gurdaspur, July 5

A local court today sent SP (Headquarters) Gumeet Singh to two-day police custody. The officer was arrested by a joint team of the Amritsar (Rural) police and the Moga police from Moga yesterday. He has been booked under Section 376-A of the IPC on a complaint lodged by a Dinanagar based woman. The FIR has been registered at the Gurdaspur city police station.

A special investigating team (SIT), which was led by SSP, Amritsar (Rural), Swarandeep Singh, was formed to look into the allegations of the woman that he had sexually assaulted her at his home in Gurdaspur.Meanwhile, the victim has got her statement recorded under Section 162 of the CrPC in front of a magistrate.
