Resentment prevailed among activists and leaders of Guru Ravidas Tiger Force against the government to hold panchayat elections on October 15, just two days before the ‘Pargat Diwas’ of Maharishi Valmiki on October 17.

President Jassi Talhan has urged the state government to postpone the panchayat elections scheduled to be held on October 15 and before the ‘Pargat Diwas’. Shobha Yatras are being carried out throughout Punjab on October 16 by the followers of Maharishi Valmiki.

He said community was of the view that during October, the followers remain busy in organising programs and Shobha Yatras for ‘Pargat Diwas’ of Maharishi Valmiki, hence dates announced for gram panchayat elections coincides with ‘Pargat Diwas’ and followers would not be able to participate with vigour in both elections and religious programs.
