Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has claimed that there was large-scale misappropriation of MGNREGA funds in the Gidderbaha Assembly segment, presently being represented in the Vidhan Sabha by Amrinder Singh Raja Warring.

In a statement issued here today, Harsimrat said a case of misappropriation of MGNREGA funds had come to light after she urged Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Tomar to mark a probe into a complaint submitted by SAD’s Gidderbaha constituency incharge Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon.

The complainant had stated that Warring, BDPO Gurjinder Singh and APO Harpreet Singh were allegedly involved in the irregularities in implementation of the MGNREGA scheme in the area.

“After the probe, the Centre has directed the state government to issue show-cause notices to the erring staff for indulging in irregularities. Further, as per a communication from the Union Rural Development Minister recently, some irregularities are detected in the record of gram panchayats of Gurusar and Gilzewala villages,” she said.

Warring said, “I have nothing to do with the MGNREGA funds. If someone has misappropriated the money, he should pay for it. The Congress sarpanches neither passed any resolution, nor carried out any such work.”
