Amritsar, January 17

Two Haryana cops were reportedly manhandled by residents of the Mohkampura locality after they picked up a youth and allegedly thrashed him on Thursday. The policemen were in civil dress and they did not even inform their counterparts in Punjab.

Head Constable Nafa Singh and Constable Bir Singh of the Panipat city police station came to serve summons in a cheque bounce case issued by the court to Mohkampura resident Ashok Kumar.

They allegedly thrashed him. The family members raised the alarm following which people gathered and manhandled the cops.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police JS Walia said the two cops from Haryana did not inform the local police. As they were in plain clothes, the people could not identify them. No complaint has been filed. — TNS
