The event started off with the blessings from Sri Guru Granth Sahib enshrined in a well-decorated gold-plated palanquin. The renowned kirtaniyas (specialised in recital of kirtan), including Bhai Jasbir Singh from Takht Patna Sahib, Bhai Chamanjit Singh Delhi wale, and Hazuri raagi Bhai Karaj Singh from the Golden Temple, Amritsar, mesmerised the attendees with spiritual discourses during the event.

Takht Patna Sahib Jathedar Giani Baldev Singh, Baba Ramdev, a spiritual and noted Yoga practitioner, were among the participants.

Ramdev, paying homage to the guru, expressed that the martyrdom of such a great guru, who sacrificed his life for the protection of Sanatan Dharma, ought to be remembered every day.

Khalsa said it was for the rare occasion that such an event was being held at such a grand scale in Maharashtra.

“It had never happened in the 78 years’ history of Independent India that Sikhs and Sanatans celebrate the occasion together on one platform. The Congress, in its 70 years of regime, had created a rift between the Sikhs and Sanatans. All thanks to the Maharashtra’s BJP government and CM Devendra Fadnavis for his commendable efforts in organising the event that apprised every child of Maharashtra about the unparalleled bravery and sacrifice of the Sikh Guru for the protection of religious freedom and human rights,” he said.

Khalsa also thanked various sects, including the Lubana, Sindhi, Vanjara, Sikkaligar, Moheal, and Valmiki communities, in addition to the Bhagat Namdev ji Sampraday, Udasi Sant Samaj, for making the Guru’s centenary events a successful affair.

Meanwhile, arrangements for mass langar, medical camps, and proper sanitation were in place.
