Several Hindu organisations have decided to back the Kotkapura-Bargari protest march to be led by rebel AAP MLA Sukhpal Khaira and Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) leaders on October 7.
Addressing the media, LIP MLA Balwinder Singh Bains said former CM Parkash Singh Badal was trying to disrupt peace in the state by raising the bogey of a threat to Hindu-Sikh harmony on the Bargari sacrilege issue.
Former MLA Prem Mittal, representing the Hindu community, said, “Guru Granth Sahib is dear to all communities in the state. We will take part in the march in large numbers. We demand implementation of the Justice Ranjit Singh (retd) Commission’s recommendations.”
Among the others present included Balbir Gupta, representative of the Jagraon Durga Mata Mandir; Vijay Bhatia of Baba Lal Dyal temple; Ravinder Nayyar of Arya Samaj Mandir, Atul Kapoor of the Krishna Morcha Committee and Vipan Sood Kaka of the Jagannath Rath Yatra Committee.
In Muktsar, Sukhpal Khaira visited Burj Sidhwan village to mobilise people for the protest march.
