Homoeopaths allege pay disparity, say will move HC

Homoeopathic medical officers, appointed in 2017, have decided to move the Punjab and Haryana High Court in wake of alleged pay disparity.

Alleging discrimination meted out to them by the government, the doctors said when the appointing authority of both AYUSH and MBBS doctors was the same (Punjab Public Service Commission), then why they were being given basic pay for three years after appointment, while MBBS doctors were getting full pay scale right after their appointment?

The decision to move to court was taken during a meeting of the Government Homoeopathy Medical Officers Association, Punjab, held here today. Homoeopathic officers from across the state attended the meet.

Dr Pritpal Singh Grewal, president of the association, alleged that the government was apathetic towards homoeopaths.

Balwinder Kumar, general secretary, said in 2017, 36 homoeopathic medical officers were recruited through the PPSC and their pay was fixed according for a notification issued by the government in 2015.

“According to this notification, the government officials will receive basic pay of Rs 10,300 for the first three years. But on the other hand, MBBS and BDS doctors are getting full pay scales from the very first day of their joining. The government is discriminating against AYUSH doctors,” he claimed.

The doctors decided that they would move the High Court in case the government failed to rectify the anomaly.

Dr Pritpal Singh said three months ago, 306 MBBS doctors were appointed and they were getting full pay scale.
