Honorary degree for GNDU alumnus

AMRITSAR: The Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) will honour its alumnus with honoris causa doctorate degree at their Golden Jubilee year annual convocation to be held on July 19.



Amritsar, June 20

The Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) will honour its alumnus with honoris causa doctorate degree at their Golden Jubilee year annual convocation to be held on July 19.

Dr Gurtej Singh Sandhu, senior fellow and Director, Micron Technology Inc, will be given the honoris causa doctorate degree in the faculty of sciences. This will be the 45th annual convocation of the university.

Sandhu did his undergraduate degree in physics from GNDU. Dr Sandhu has been recognised as one of the top five inventors in the world and is a fellow of the IEEE.

Prof Karanjeet Singh Kahlon, Registrar, GNDU, said, “We have been giving the doctorate degrees to prominent individuals. It is for the very first time that an alumnus is in the category for our honoris causa. The move will inspire our students to achieve excellence. We wanted to do something special on the Golden Jubilee.” — TNS
