As Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as Cabinet minister on Sunday, Cabinet ministers Brahm Mohindra and Charanjit Singh Channi are at their wits end to clear the backlog of files left behind by Sidhu in the Department of Local Government and Tourism and Cultural Affairs.

Sources said in the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, over 50 files had been lying pending since January this year even as the government is going full throttle on celebrating the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak.

Recently, Channi, who has been given the additional charge of the department, was seen struggling with the backlog of files. Channi said he was clearing the files on day-to-day basis. Similarly, the new Local Bodies Minister Brahm Mohindra was struggling with the backlog of work left behind by Sidhu. “Nearly 600 resolutions related to municipal committee have been awaiting clearance from Sidhu. The issue of single tenders has delayed development works”.

He admitted to backlog left behind by Sidhu.
