Illegal sale of Gurdwara Amb Sahib land in Mohali: SGPC suspends 2 more employees
The decision was taken on the basis of the report submitted by a five-member sub-committee
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee on Friday suspended two more employees in the case related to unauthorised sale of land of Gurdwara Amb Sahib in Mohali.
SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami took the decision on the basis of the report submitted by the five-member sub-committee, led by executive member Harjinder Kaur.
Confirming the development, Harjinder Kaur, who had been the Mayor of Chandigarh, said these employees were Gurmej Singh, in-charge of Gurdwara Section 85 and Assistant Supervisor Jatinder Singh.
Interestingly, both of them were working in the office of SGPC secretary Partap Singh, who was suspended on March 9 after his signature was found genuine in the unauthorised sale of 44 marlas of prime land belonging to Mohali’s Gurdwara Amb Sahib land.
Harjinder shared that the committee had written to the police to take action against both these employees. She said SGPC president had issued the committee strict instruction that no leniency should be shown to any employee of the apex Sikh body for involvement in the land deal.
After suspending both of them, Gurmej Singh's headquarters was made at Gurdwara Guru Ka Bagh and Jatinder Singh's headquarters was made at Gurdwara Chheharta Sahib.
On the complaint of SGPC secretary Partap Singh, the Mohali police had registered a case of cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy against seven persons, including a gurdwara manager, in connection with the alleged sale of 2.2 kanal land of Gurdwara Amb Sahib in Saini Majra village, near IT City, on February 9. He had even once led an SGPC delegation to meet the Mohali Deputy Commissioner.
On a complainant filed by Pratap Singh, the police had booked gurdwara manager Rajinder Singh, Gurinder Singh, Talwinder Singh, Satbir, Baljinder Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Gurcharan Singh for cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy.
It was alleged that fake documents were prepared in the office of the Sub-Registrar, Sector 76, and the accused carried out the land registration on December 2.
The land was reportedly sold to various buyers for Rs 1.32 crore and the registration was done at the Sub-Registrar Office, Mohali, on December 2 last year.
While revenue records show that the land belongs to the gurdwara, the sale deed mentions that the alleged land does not belong to any religious institution.
The lapse had came to light after village residents Satwinder Singh, Manpreet Singh, Sukhvir Singh and Randhir Singh wrote to the SGPC after the alleged fraudulent deal.
