The State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) has shared the information leaked to Pakistan spy agency ISI by Ram Kumar, an electrician with Military Engineering Service (MES) in Jalandhar Cantonment, with Army officials.
The Army will try to ascertain the extent of damage that could be caused by the information thus passed.
Ram Kumar was held by the SSOC from Jalandhar on charges of spying on Friday. He was found to be leaking vital information and details of different Army units to his Pakistan-based handlers through social networking websites.
Though he used to delete the data, the intelligence wing of the state police has recovered the same from his mobile phone.
SSOC officials, wishing not to be named, said Ram Kumar had been posted in Jalandhar since 2016 and he came in the contact with Pakistan-based handlers in 2017 through a social networking site.
The handlers used a fake female ID. Ram was lured to share vital information of the Army unit positions with them and the frequency of sharing information increased post Pulwama terrorist attack and subsequent air strike by IAF in Pakistan.
Till now, Ram Kumar got Rs 60,000 in four installments from the ISI in his bank accounts. He failed to justify the source of the money during interrogation. He is in the police remand till March 20.
