The Punjab Manch, which is exploring the formation of a strong third front in Punjab ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, today got a backing from former Army Chief Gen JJ Singh (retd). Gen JJ Singh said, “He will back the front which is against dynasty politics and will prove to be a formidable third front which will potentially change the political landscape of the state.

“My decision to resign from SAD was due to certain wrongdoings at the top of the party leadership, which I had brought to their notice,” he said. “Banda ta wadiya hai per party galat hai (He is a good person but in wrong party). I was told this by many supporters whom I approached during 2017 campaigning,” he said.

Gen JJ Singh appeared along with sitting Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi. “I will not contest from Patiala, but would back the candidature of Gandhi, who is doing a great job. However if the Punjab Manch decides for me, I am ready to contest from any seat in Punjab”, said the former Army Chief.
