National convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal will harp on development in Delhi as he addresses the party’s first rally ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, in Barnala on Sunday. Barnala being part of the Sangrur parliamentary constituency represented by its MP Bhagwant Mann, the party hopes to make a good start from here.

Kejriwal will later address rallies in Doaba and Majha regions as well.

Mann, while supervising the arrangements at the rally venue at Barnala grain market, claimed: “The Punjab government has nothing to show to its voters, but our party has brought tremendous development in Delhi despite problems created by the Central government. Kejriwal will focus on works done in health, education, power and other areas.”

As per schedule, Kejriwal will reach Sangrur at 10.50 am through Shatabdi Express and then travel to Barnala. Senior AAP leaders told The Tribune that they would take on the Congress government over lack of doctors in government hospitals, agitation of teachers, rising electricity tariff and farmer suicides.

Harpal Singh Cheema, Leader of Opposition, claimed: “When our government in Delhi can bring huge development, why can’t Congress do it in Punjab? After Sunday’s rally, the party will press the government to provide basic amenities to its residents. Kejriwal will launch a movement to expose the failures of the Punjab government.”
