Chandigarh, July 24
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will not be attending the meeting of CMs of northern states on drugs abuse and smuggling. The meeting is scheduled to be held here on Thursday.
A special commissioner of police of Delhi will represent it in the meeting in which Chief Ministers of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Advisers of Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh have confirmed attendance.
Kejriwal’s participation was considered important as Delhi is the hub of drugs in the country. As CM, his government had a run in with the police on checking the drug abuse and its flow.
During the 2017 Assembly elections, Kejriwal had raised the issue of drugs abuse in Punjab. He had alleged a political-smuggler nexus and promised to expose some top politicians allegedly involved in the racket.
