Fazilka, January 13
Advocates continued their protest on the second day today by abstaining from courts in Jalalabad town and staging an agitation outside the SDM office against a spurt in thefts at the tehsil and court complex.
They raised slogans against the police and the administration for failing to check theft cases. Association president Rohit Dahuja alleged that locks of two chambers of lawyers were broke open on Monday night. Four such incidents were reported two days ago, which resulted in a sense of insecurity among advocates and their staff.
Dahuja said four inverters had been stolen from the chambers. Advocate Anish Gagneja said the police had failed to perform their duty. DSP Palvinder Singh said the police had been checking CCTV cameras and the thieves would be nabbed soon. He said the administration had been approached to ensure proper lighting in the court complex. — OC
