The Kabarwala police have registered a case against a man after his wife and two-year-old daughter died when the car they were travelling in plunged into a canal near Alamwala village here last night.

The police action followed a complaint lodged by the deceased woman Simran Kaur’s father Barjinder Singh of Sirsa district in Haryana, who alleged that his son-in-law, Sahilpreet Singh Khera of Jandwala Bhimeshah village in Fazilka district was responsible for the deaths. Sahilpreet escaped unhurt in the incident.

In his complaint, the woman’s father claimed that Sahilpreet intentionally caused the deaths as he wanted to marry another woman and used to quarrel with his daughter.

The police have booked him under Section 105 of the BNS.
