The Sriganganagar police have arrested Surinder Singh, a resident of a border village, from Sangrur for allegedly kidnapping a 15-year-old girl nearly six months ago. They had been living in a rented accommodation in Sangrur.
Earlier, a case was registered under Section 366 of the IPC. However, after recording the girl's statement, Section 376 of the IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the SC/ST Act were added in the FIR.
In her statement, the girl accused Surinder Singh of sexually exploiting her and forcing her to live with him. The medical examination of the girl has been conducted.
She was produced in a court today, which gave her custody to her parents.
