MC elections: AAP vows 100 electric buses, 24x7 water supply in Jalandhar
Hundred electric buses with charging stations and supply of clean drinking water 24X7 for all residents were the key promises made by the Aam Admi Party (AAP) as it released its manifesto for the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation here today.
Launching its official campaign for the elections, Punjab AAP president Aman Arora unveiled a vision document with five key guarantees for Jalandhar City if the party won the majority and installed its Mayor. Arora said the party was committed to delivering these promises immediately after assuming office.
86 Nomination papers rejected
Chandigarh: The nomination papers of 86 candidates for elections to five municipal corporations were rejected during the scrutiny on Friday. The Punjab State Election Commission stated that five of the rejected nominations pertained to the Jalandhar civic body, 19 Ludhiana, one Phagwara, 53 Amritsar and eight Patiala.
Other promises made by AAP in the vision document included large-scale parking and CCTV cameras across the city, removal of 28 dumps and restoring the city’s sports glory.

Addressing mediapersons, Arora said, “In the past two and a half years, the state government has carried out various development works. While corruption and negative thought process had prevailed in corporations during the tenure of previous governments, AAP has dedicated its tenure to address public issues.”
Arora was accompanied by AAP Punjab working president Amansher Singh Sharry Kalsi, ministers Harbhajan Singh ETO and Mohinder Bhagat, MLAs Raman Arora and Jasvir Singh Raja Gill, and party leaders Deepak Bali, Rajwinder Kaur Thiara and Pawan Kumar Tinu.
