Punjab Education Minister orders reconstruction of dilapidated building of Fazilka school

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Sunday ordered the reconstruction of Government Primary School building at Basti Hazur in Fazilka. The move comes after concerns were raised about the condition of the building.

He directed the School Education Department to take immediate remedial steps and assured that a new building would be completed within six months.

“The poor condition of the school building at Basti Hazur was brought to my notice on Saturday. I have already directed officers to take immediate action. I’ll personally visit the school and it will have a new building within six months. This is not a political statement; it is a personal guarantee,” he said.

The minister said Punjab had nearly 20,000 government schools and claimed many were in poor condition due to decades of neglect.
