Moga: Man dies in road mishap, aunt suffers fatal heart attack on seeing body

Tragedy occurs near Badhni Kalan in Moga

A wave of mourning has swept through Bir Badhni in Moga following a double tragedy that claimed the lives of two family members returning from a wedding celebration.

​The incident occurred late Sunday night as the family was returning from a ‘jaago’ ceremony, a pre-wedding ritual, in Ghal Kalan village of Moga.

According to police reports, 39-year-old Paramjit Singh, who worked as an assistant lineman in the PSPCL, was traveling back home on his motorcycle around midnight. Tragedy struck near Badhni Kalan when Paramjit’s motorcycle hit a pothole, causing him to lose control. He fell onto the road and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

​Moments later, other family members who were following behind in a car arrived at the scene. Upon seeing Paramjit’s body on the road, his 55-year-old aunt, Kulwinder Kaur, suffered a heart attack due to the shock. She passed away at the scene before medical help could reach her.

​ASI Santokh Singh of the Badhni Kalan police station confirmed that the department had recorded the statement of Paramjit’s wife, Hardeep Kaur.

​Paramjit is survived by his wife and two children, while Kulwinder was a mother of five.
