Moga wedding turns violent: Groom’s brother shot over DJ music choice
Police said that some youths present were under the influence of alcohol when an argument broke out over selecting songs for the DJ
A dispute over the choice of music being played by DJ during a wedding celebration in Moga turned violent on Monday, leaving the groom’s brother seriously injured after he was shot. The incident occurred during a pre-wedding function where DJs were playing music and guests were dancing. Police said that some youths present were under the influence of alcohol when an argument broke out over selecting songs for the DJ.
According to preliminary investigations, the clash began when Akashdeep Singh (26), a brick kiln worker and father of one, asked the DJ to play a song of his choice. This led to a heated altercation with another man, identified as Mani, also known as William. The argument escalated, and in a fit of rage, the accused allegedly fired multiple shots. One bullet struck Akashdeep in the knee, causing a serious injury.
The sudden gunfire created panic at the venue, forcing guests to scatter in fear. Akashdeep was initially rushed to Moga Civil Hospital for treatment but was later referred to Faridkot Medical College and Hospital for advanced medical care due to the seriousness of his injuries.
Kot-Ishe-Khan SHO Janak Raj said police have recorded statements from the injured man and eyewitnesses and initiated legal proceedings. A police team also visited Faridkot hospital to record further statements from Akashdeep and his family. No arrests had been made as of the report, but police said raids were underway to arrest the accused.
