Over a month after a Dalit boy of Thandewala village, near here, was allegedly tied to a tree, thrashed, given shocks by upper-caste farmers of the village and kept in illegal custody by policemen, one of the six accused was arrested on Saturday. The victim’s relatives had recently lodged a protest outside the Sadar police station, seeking the arrest of the accused. Ashok Kumar, SHO, said, “Iqbal Singh has been arrested.” The boy was allegedly assaulted at Iqbal’s residence on June 16.
