Blame Deep Sidhu for Red Fort incident.

Muktsar, January 28

Ordinary farmers in villages are condemning the violence at the Red Fort on Republic Day and termed it an insult to the nation. They are even saying that the misdeed of some persons has jeopardised the ongoing peaceful protest.

Amardeep Singh of Bidowali village here said, “The farmer agitation has got a major setback due to the violence on Republic Day. It may have been a game plan of government agencies to create an ugly scene, but the protesting farmers are now on the back foot. Further, a number of farmers have returned from the Delhi borders as well.”

Similarly, Manga Singh, sarpanch of Udekaran village, which is the native village of actor Deep Sidhu, said, “Everyone in the village is discussing Deep Sidhu’s act on Republic Day. He has failed the farmers’ protest, which was progressing smoothly. The act of hoisting the flag at the Red Fort is unfortunate and highly condemnable.”

Harbhajan Singh, an elderly farmer from Muktsar, said, “The agitation is losing sympathy of non-farming people. Earlier, every community was supporting the protest. I wish the situation improves in the coming days.” — TNS
