Some inmates inside Navjot Singh Sidhu's barracks were shifted a few days ago after the cricketer-turned-politician complained that two of them allegedly misused his cash card meant for buying provisions from the jail canteen.

According to jail insiders, two inmates connived and used Sidhu's canteen card to buy stuff for themselves and exhausted the Rs 15,000 limit within a week, prompting Sidhu to take up the matter with jail officials. The officials later changed the barracks of the two inmates.

“It was a trivial issue and was sorted out after a complaint was made,” said a jail official preferring anonymity.

Later in a tweet, Jail Minister Harjot Singh Bains said: “No brawl took place. It was a four-day-old trivial issue. Every inmate is issued a card. Sidhu says an inmate had drawn ration on his card for himself.”
