Nawanshahr man killed by relative in Philippines

NAWANSHAHR: Harjinder Singh (28), a resident of Bahua village (Nawanshahr), was murdered by a relative in Manila (Philippines) on Sunday night.

Harjinder Singh (28), a resident of Bahua village (Nawanshahr), was murdered by a relative in Manila (Philippines) on Sunday night. He had gone there around 11 years ago and was working as a financier.

Harjinder’s brother Harkamal Singh said the accused, Surinder Singh, had been arrested. “He has confessed to having killed Harjinder, but we don’t know why he committed the crime. They used to live together and occasionally had disagreements.”

Harjinder is survived by wife and two children, one of whom was born after he had left for Manila. Harkamal had appealed to the Centre to help bring the body back to India.

Several Punjabi financiers have been murdered in the Philippines in recent years.
