Anandpur Sahib MP Manish Tewari on Sunday said prior to the Lok Sabha elections, former MP Prem Singh Chandumajra and SAD president Sukhbir Badal had misled people by laying the foundation stone of a national highway from Banga to Shri Naina Devi.

He said in response to a question asked in the Lok Sabha, the Road Transport and Highways Ministry had made it clear that neither any project had been started nor any budget was allocated for it. Tewari, during a press conference at Garhshankar, demanded an apology from Chandumajra and Sukhbir for “misguiding” people.

He said he had written a letter to Railways Minister Piyush Goyal and demanded a rail line from Garhshankar to Anandpur Sahib, from Samarala to Rahon and from Rahon to Ropar. “Piyush Goyal has told me that for the all three projects, the amount to be spent will be released in the budget,” Tewari said. He said in order to set up industries in the fields of Kandi and Bet areas, he had spoken to Industry Secretary Mini Mahajan.
