Fatehgarh Sahib, April 13

SGPC president HS Dhami, while speaking to mediapersons at the historical gurudwara of Fatehgarh Sahib, today said the SGPC would not seek any help from any individual or the government for the live telecast of Gurbani kirtan from Darbar Sahib. He said they had formed a committee to set up their own channel and as soon as the report comes, the work would be initiated. He said the Sikh sangat had the resources to finance and run the channel on their own without any support from any quarter. He urged individuals and the government to refrain from interfering in the religious affairs of the Sikhs. He was here to flag off “Dastar Bachao March” taken out on the eve of International Dastar (Turban) Diwas from Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib to Gurdwara Anandpur Sahib. Hundreds of students from SGPC institutions and Sikh sangat participated in the march.

Addressing the gathering, he said on the eve of Baisakhi, International Dastar Diwas would be celebrated every year to create awareness among youth about Sikhism and the value of ‘dastar’. —
