Two activists of the BSNL Casual and Contractual Employees Union climbed up the mobile tower in the local telephone exchange complex for not getting salaries for the past five months.

Surjit Singh, president of the Fazilka branch of the union, said vice-president of the state unit Dharampal and another worker from Jalalabad Jagdish Lal climbed up the tower demanding immediate payment of salary.

He said Dharmapal and Jagdish Lal had resolved not to come down until their demand was accepted. He added that the employees had been working with BSNL for the past 15 years.

He threatened to intensify the agitation in near future if their demand was not accepted.
