A criminal complaint has been filed against Food and Civil Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu for manhandling and hurting religious sentiments.

Taking up the case, Judicial Magistrate Ankit Airi has asked the complainant Saudagar Singh to present the evidence on the next date of hearing. The case has been posted for November 5.

Saudagar, father of a sikh youth, claimed that they have been the Congress supporters for the past four decades. He said a few days ago, his son alongwith his friends arranged a meeting of Congress candidate Sandeep Singh Sandhu, who is in the fray from Dakha segment.

He said this annoyed former sarpanch Amarjot Singh, who is an associate of Ashu and had recently joined the Congress. Earlier, Amarjot was supporting SAD and later switched his loyality to the Aam Aadmi Party.

Saudagar said his son was called at the Congress election office where Amarjot and his accomplice Kuldeep Singh thrashed him.

He alleged that in order to hurt the religious sentiments, the minister removed turban of his son.
