Police arrest two with four pistols at Killianwali bypass
Just a day after the beginning of the panchayat election process, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA staff), a special branch of Punjab Police, have arrested two bike-borne persons with four .32 calibre country-made pistols and six live cartridges.
CIA officials said the suspects, Sheesh Pal and Bhim Sain (also known as Bhim Godara), were residents of Panjkosi village, about 17 km from Abohar.
Addressing mediapersons on Sunday, the Superintendent of Police (D), PS Sandhu, said the team of CIA-2 Staff and Abohar Anti-Narcotic Cell, under the leadership of the in-charge, Rupinder Pal Singh, had laid a naka on the Killianwali bypass on Saturday night. He said at 9.15 pm, two persons riding a motorcycle were stopped on the basis of suspicion. He said the suspects were questioned, and when the officials searched their vehicle, they recovered four country-made.32 bore pistols and six live cartridges from their possession.
The Superintendent of Police said a case was registered at the city-1 police station against both suspects under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act. He said they were presented in court and have been sent to police remand for two days.
The Superintendent of Police said they would be questioned further to ascertain from where and whom they had arranged the weapons.
Police officials said Bhim Sain, alias Bhim Godara, was previously involved in a 2016 case under Sections 304 and 34 of IPC. They said the case was registered against him at the Khuian Sarwar police station, adding that another case under Section 392 of the IPC was registered against him on January 4, 2022, in the same police station.
Superintendent of Police PS Sandhu said upon investigation into Godara they learnt that another case was registered against him at Ramgarh in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, in 2019 under Sections 397, 394, 302, 34, 212 and 120B of the IPC and Arms Act.
The Superintendent of Police said it was being speculated the suspects might be linked to a gang.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sukhwinder Brar and the CIA staff in-charge, Rupinder Pal Singh, were also present at the media briefing.
