Chandigarh: The process to cancel the membership of Punjabi Ekta Party president Sukhpal Khaira from the Punjab Vidhan Sabha has been put in motion, with a constituent of Bholath approaching the Assembly on Thursday. Though Khaira resigned from the AAP on Sunday and floated his own party, sources in the Vidhan Sabha said his membership could not be cancelled till a member of the Assembly, AAP or a constituent of the Assembly segment represented by Khaira formally lodged a complained to the Vidhan Sabha. It is only after the complaint is registered that a notice will be issued to Khaira. Harsimran Singh, a registered voter from Bholath, on Thursday lodged a complaint against the MLA, saying he should be disqualified as member of the House on the ground of defection. TNS
