The Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) today recommended the suspension of the booking branch in-charge of the Bathinda depot in the e-ticketing scam. The suspension order is being issued after an internal probe found the booking branch responsible for the fraud.

Meanwhile, the PRTC will seek help from the makers of the e-ticketing machines in finding out whether the damaged machines can be used again to commit the scam.

Two “advance bookers” of the booking branch had already been booked under Sections 420 and 409 of the IPC after the e-ticketing scam had come to the fore last month. However, they still have to be arrested. The PRTC has now requested the Bathinda police to add relevant sections against the two accused.

Bathinda DSP Charanjiv Lamba said, “We have not arrested the accused. The accused has applied for anticipatory bail and a hearing in the case is scheduled for July 7.”

Poonamdeep Kaur, Managing Director, PRTC, said, “Strict action will be taken against employees, including seniors, if they are found involved in the scam. We have already issued a show-cause notice to General Manager, Bathinda.”
