PSEB Class 10 results: Farmer’s daughter tops exams in Punjab, with 99.38 per cent

Harleen Sharma of Jaito town of Faridkot brought immense pride to her family and the entire region by topping Class 10 Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) exams in the state.

In the Class 10 results announced on Monday by the PSEB, Harleen emerged as the state topper, securing the first position across Punjab with a stellar score of 99.38 percent.

Harleen, a student of Saraswati Senior Secondary School, Jaito, secured 646 out of 650 marks. Her success is particularly noteworthy as she hails from a hardworking family in Chaina village, located about six km from Jaito.

The journey of hard work

Harleen’s father, Jaswinder Kumar Sharma, is a farmer who has studied up to the matriculation level, and her mother, Renu Bala, is a homemaker who studied until Class 8.

Despite the modest educational background of the family, Harleen’s dedication was unwavering. Her father shared that Harleen would wake up at 4 am and study until school time, often continuing her studies late into the night until 11 pm.

Remarkably, she only took tuition for about four months before the exams, relying largely on self-study and school guidance. Harleen credited her parents for their constant motivation and encouragement.

When asked about her future goals, she shared a clear vision: "It is my parents' dream to see me become a judge. I will put in all my effort to turn that dream into reality."

The school principal, Kusum Kalra, along with the management committee members—Pawan Goyal, Madan Goyal and Rakesh Romana—congratulated Harleen and her family, attributing the success to her hard work and the school’s dedicated staff.

Jaito MLA Amolak Singh also extended his heartiest congratulations to the topper.

This is a double celebration for Saraswati Senior Secondary School, Jaito. Just a few days ago, another student from the same school, Tamanna, secured the first position in Punjab in the Class 8 results with a perfect 100% score.
