Chandigarh, April 1

The Punjab Government has extended the term of the Sixth Punjab Pay Commission for employees till April 30, 2021. Earlier the pay panel was expected to submit its recommendations by March 31.

This means employees and pensioners will have to wait till the month-end to get the revised pay-scales.

The pay commission was set up by the previous SAD-BJP government in 2016. The Congress had earlier assured employees that the recommendations of the commission would be implemented by December, 2019.

Meanwhile, the SAD today condemned the government for giving another extension to the commission, saying the government had reneged on its promise of implementing the panel report after coming to power in 2017. — TNS
