Punjab Police reshuffle: IG Sukhchain Singh appointed chief of Intelligence
As per an order issued by the Department of Home Affairs, the state government transferred and reposted several IPS officers with immediate effect on administrative grounds
The state government on Tuesday ordered a reshuffle in the senior ranks of the Punjab Police, transferring and reposting a number of IPS officers with immediate effect on administrative grounds, as per an order issued by the Department of Home Affairs.
Sukhchain Singh, a 2003-batch IPS officer previously serving as Inspector General of Police at Headquarters has been appointed as the new IGP, Intelligence, Punjab. Earlier, DGP PK Sinha, who held additional charge of heading the Intelligence unit. Sinha continues to be the Director-Vigilance Bureau, Punjab.
Other significant movements in the reshuffle include Naresh Arora (1994-batch), who has now been designated Special DGP, Human Rights, Punjab, Chandigarh, while continuing in addition with the DGP-PSHRC.
SS Srivastava (1994-batch), formerly Special DGP, Security, Punjab, has been shifted to Special DGP, Headquarters, Chandigarh.
Dr Kaustubh Sharma (2001-batch), previously ADGP, Human Rights, Punjab, Chandigarh, moves to ADGP, Security, Punjab, Chandigarh.
The order also covers mid-level officers: Sandeep Goel (SPS:2011), DIG, Border Range, Amritsar, has been reassigned as DIG, AGTF-2, Ludhiana, while retaining additional charge as DIG, Border Range, Amritsar.
Maninder Singh (2019-batch), SSP Ropar, becomes AIG, Welfare, Punjab, in addition to continuing as SSP Ropar. Kanwaldeep Singh, formerly AIG, Crime, Bureau of Investigation, Punjab, Chandigarh, has been transferred to AIG, Personnel-1.
