Punjab transfers 10 IAS, 22 PCS officers

Ahead of the imposition of the model code of conduct for the urban civic polls to be announced anytime now, the Punjab government on Friday issued posting and transfer orders of 10 IAS and 22 PCS officers.

With elections to Amritsar and Jalandhar MC set to be announced, Rakesh Kumar has been posted as Additional Commissioner of MC Jalandhar; Surinder Singh as Additional Commissioner and Jai Inder Singh as Joint Commissioner of MC Amritsar.

However, the post of Principal Secretary to Chief Minister has not been filled. The post had fallen vacant after the retirement of VK Singh on November 30, who was serving as the Special Chief Secretary to CM Bhagwant Mann.

His charge of Cooperation department has been given to Alok Shekhar.

Ravi Bhagat, Special Principal Secretary to CM, will continue to hold the fort in the Chief Minister’s Office, and his charge of Medical Education and Research department has been given to Health secretary Kumar Rahul.

Sarvjit Singh has been relieved of both Governance Reforms and Forest department, with Governance Reforms going to Vikas Pratap and Forests and Wildlife Preservation being given to Priyank Bharti.

Finance Secretary AK Sinha has got the additional charge of Power department, which was earlier with Rahul Tiwari.
