With the state borrowing Rs 20,769 crore between April 2025 and January 2026, Punjab’s outstanding debt has touched Rs 4.03 lakh crore. By the end of this fiscal, the total outstanding debt is expected to reach Rs 4.17 lakh crore.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
