Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday highlighted Punjab’s unparalleled contribution to the nation’s unity and sovereignty while interacting with a delegation of the National Defence College, New Delhi, currently on a study tour of the state.
Welcoming the delegation, Mann said the socio-political study tour aimed at providing an understanding of Punjab’s social, economic and political landscape. He described Punjab as the land of great Gurus, saints, martyrs and brave, hardworking people.
The CM recalled Punjab’s legacy of valour, communal harmony and its enduring role as the “food bowl and sword arm of India”. He said Punjab had given the Indian armed forces distinguished military leaders and brave soldiers who had always made supreme sacrifices for the country.
He said the youth of Punjab protected the nation’s borders, while its farmers ensured food security for the country.
The National Defence College delegation included officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force.
