Rectify faults in sewerage lines or face action: Sidhu

CHANDIGARH: With number of Congress MLAs criticising faulty sewerage works in various towns and cities, Local Government Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Tuesday instructed sewerage-laying companies to rectify shortcomings within one month or he would recommend registration of criminal cases against them.

With number of Congress MLAs criticising faulty sewerage works in various towns and cities, Local Government Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Tuesday instructed sewerage-laying companies to rectify shortcomings within one month or he would recommend registration of criminal cases against them.

The minister said this while presiding over a review meeting of eight clusters with the representatives of various companies at the Punjab Municipal Bhawan here. The meeting was also attended by Cabinet ministers Vijay Inder Singla and Sunder Sham Arora, besides MLAs of the towns and cities concerned and higher officials of the department.

Expressing unhappiness over the functioning of some companies engaged in financial and technical audit, Sidhu said had these parties conducted audit in a forthright manner then the complaints with regard to the sewerage works wouldn’t have arisen. He instructed the department officials to take due action against the audit companies.

The MLAs expressed unhappiness over the sewerage works being undertaken by various companies in their respective towns and cities.
